  1. I think we can really make a difference at our school by showing kindness and respect to each other. By accepting Rachel's Challenge we are saying we want to make a positive change.

  2. Are you the Real Deal? I want to be the real deal. You know, what you see is what you get. I don't want to be a fake. I want to be kind and nice to all that I come in contact with. Although this isn't always the case, I am truly giving it my best shot. I have to be most careful when I drive. What about you? Do you want to be the Real Deal?

  3. I think the thing that we had to sign will change all of the schools so we can be a little more kinder to each other. all of the people that signed the thing was a nice community.

  4. I think the message that we got will change people's lives I know I changed. What would really be grear is that we treat people how we treat our family members. That would be nice.

  5. During Rachel’s Challenge I learned thought about many things that are going in my life right now. I learn that I need to be more responsible and respect others the way the want to be treated. Rachel wanted to inspire others and she did. She inspired me by making me realize I can do anything I desire to do. West Fairmont Middle School needed this assembly because they act like crazy kids. Most of the people in my grade are immature at times. Meanwhile, some can be mature at times. I hope Rachel’s Challenge made a positive change in their lives because I know it did to me.

  7. F.O.R. WFMS is a great program at our school. Me being a part of this program really gives me the opportunity to be a person people can look up to. I want to be a person that people look at as the nice guy, and they can feel free to share any problems or conflicts with me. I can give advice. Rachel's Challenge has made a lot of kids in our school realize that everyone should make the best out of the day they are living by being nice and thoughtful to others. No one knows what might happen. Another thing I would like to share with anyone who is reading this blog is a lot of kids that our peers are mean to have family problems or a serious conflict or problem right now. The last thing these innocent kids need is a bully on their back on top of all the other stuff their going through.I have asked around about what kids get made fun of the most, and it is very sad that some kids still pick on these poor kids knowing what is wrong with that person.I have seen some kids in the hallway crying after school because others were making fun. THIS IS NO LIE. People don't realize how bad it hurts. It think we should start a support place maybe after school or i don't know when for the kids who are having these problems. These kids feel lonely, and I think they should know that there actually kids who care about them in this school like me. In this support group we should have fun activities planned to build up self-esteem to help them realize that they are special too. To advertise we could maybe hang-up posters and show that anyone who is feeling lousy about themselves can come. I have been thinking about this a lot because everybody should feel good about themselves. The one condition that the support group needs to have is definitely a postive attitude. A positive attitude will lift these innocent teens up and out of the lousy attitude that they are in and build them with confidence to survive in our school. Confidence would help the say no to bullying, drugs, etc. Thanks for listening to my idea. I just felt like I had to share. Thanks Again.

  8. Before Rachel's Challenge I had no clue of how people or maybe even I was acting to others. I have always tried to be as nice as I could to the people that were being picked on or the kids that people didn't let sit with them at lunch or something. I always felt proud of myself for helping these kids out when they were being mistreated but I think I can do better. When we were watching Rachel's Challenge I noticed that a good amount of people were crying and one of them was me. And there were also other people who didn't cry but I just think that the video still touched them inside. As I was watching the video all these thoughts of all the bad and sinful things I have done in my past started pop up in my mind. I was thinking of kids that I wish I would have treated better and some kids that I wish I just would have talked to help them get thru their day. The main thing that went thru my mind was the death of my grandpa I was thinking of how much I miss him and how much I, just at that moment, realized that I needed him. My grandpa taught me to be nice to everyone no matter what is wrong with them. Now I think that it is the time to start what my grandpa wanted me to do. I think that he would want me to spread the word and get other kids involved too and help children who are being mistreated or bullied by kids who also need some help with their lives. I just hope that we all learned from Rachel's Challenge and will start to make an impact on the world.

  9. I think since we had rachels challenge, things have improved, and people are starting to show more respect. for eachother.rachels challenge was a great way to show awareness about how a little kindness, can go a long way, and if you stay true to yourself, and your friends you are truely tryig to make a difference, by accepting Rachels Challenge.

  10. Rachel's Challenge really changed my life. She was a very special person to be able to help people she didn't even know and to live her life as an example. She wasn't even the least judgmental. Before rachel's challenge, students were mean to each other and tried to put people down to make themselves look good. People were just big jerks. It was a lifechanging experience for everyone and I think we will always remeber it. I accept Rachel's Challenge as well as the hundreds of other students in this school.

  11. After rachel's challenge came to our school things have started to change. I, personally, have changed as well. I start to think about the way I'm treating someone. I also open my eyes and put myself in the other person's shoes. Things at school have also changed. Not dramatic changes, but small ones, and that is all it takes. You can only go one step at a time. Rachels Challenge was a great was to teach us students how a little kindness can go along way and it just might start a "chain reaction"

  13. In the rachels challenge program. I learned a few things. You never know what is going to happen next in your life. And that the people that do things like that have probably been picked on, or pushed around. I think it was one of the best things that has came to WFMS. I hope they keep going to different schools, and changing peoples lives. It changed the way i looked at my life, by saying you dont ever know what is going to happen next.

  16. I think Rachel’s challenge has made a difference at our school. By signing the poster for Rachel’s challenge has change a lot of live like mine. Also the program had made big changes at our school like people are kinder, people are enjoying life, and everybody has an act of kindness some where in them. Also I think that program about Rachel’s Challenge has and will changed the life of others like my life.

  17. I really enjoyed Rachel's Challenge. It opened my eyes to many things. It made me want to help the people that maybe don't have it as lucky as other people. I felt that I started watching very carefully how I acted towards other people. Diaries and journals are important, so important that they can affect the way other people live. You write down your feelings and life in them. You put all of your emotion and heart and love into those diaries. Rachel's Challenge made me realize that the small things in life are just as important as every big one. Small ones are like, how beautiful the day is and how good the breakfast tastes. You know, it is a great thing just to be alive the next day, to realize the beauty in every day of life you breathe and every day that you smile. A lot of kids don't have the opportunity to have the chances everyone else does. Things can't change overnight, people can't. But the small steps they do take lead to a bigger, better, brighter future for every kid everywhere. =]

  18. I think Rachels Challenge changed the schools look on how they should treat others in school and really tought me to think before I speak because I could really hurt someone. If more people would listen to this program it could change the schools and make them a safier place.

  19. I thought that Rachel's Challenge was very moving and inspiring. It has changed not only me, but I am sure others as well. You really saw the other sides of people that day. Many students were crying(and I am not going to lie, I was one of them), hugging, and just letting all of these feelings out. I think that it was exactly what the school needed. It was like a fresh start. People learned that you can't judge by what you see, and that you should give everyone a chance. I really thought about my life that day, and knew that I had to accept Rachel's Challenge. I want to set a good example, and be a person that people can look up to. I hope that other people were inspired as well, and choose to except Rachel's Challenge. We all can make a difference, and even start a chain reaction.

  20. Rachel’s Challenge is a program that challenges kids, as well as adults, to behave in a positive manner by showing kindness to others. When you accept this challenge you are saying “I will show kindness and respect to others”. Not only should you be kind to the kind but the unkind, too. The unkind are the ones that need to be shown the most kindness. Rachel’s Challenge showed me that life isn’t fair. Sometimes things are taken away, but there is always a bizarre twist that can make you find some good in a horrible tragedy. Hopefully change will happen at WFMS.

  21. Rachel’s Challenge was started by her family as a memorial to Rachel Scott who was the first victim of the Columbine High School Massacre on April 20, 1999. Rachels Challenge was the best thing that could come to WFMS. I think that might make of all of the students a big change! After that, I think everyone's mind will come to many, many stuff ,like family, friends ...Sickness and death, but unpredictable. One of my friend, he is very nice and healthy but, the next day I heard he was dead. These things are less than we expected so we have to cherish every day, every day Spend happy! ! \

  23. Friends Of Rachael in WFMS is an awesome program that shows kids that they can be nice to other people less 'cooler' or 'popular' than them. I was going to join, but I had Golden Horseshoe. I like helping people out, for example, I helped Jared Tackish with his books when he dropped them. I also help people with projects, an example was when I helped Katie with her 60s project. I've seen people act nicer around the school after we learned about Rachel's Challenge, and I hope it stays that way.

  26. During Rachels Challenge it really touched me. If you think about it whenever you be mean to someone or ignore them they get a nasty attitude from you. You never know when its going to be your time to die so if you do die thats what their going to think about you when your gone. So whats the point in being mean to people or calling names. Everyone is different no one is the same. I personally think that no one has the right to talk about no one because no on is perfecto. Rachel's Challenge made me think before you judge someone because of their looks get to know them. The Challenge personally I think touched everyone one in this school. i know for a fact it touched everyone in 8th grade. Put yourself up for a Challenge even if you dont get there all the way atleast you get closer than where you where before.

I think it really mad people think diffrently about what they do befor they do it, like making fun of people who are smaller than them or shy or even new students. It's really changed alot of people who are usually really cruel about things! Me, i have changed more than what i expected to!

  32. i think that rachels challenge was very helpfull too are school and made us all think about how we are living are life and what kind of person we are. Her brother told us a lot about rachel and how she always thought of everyone else befor her self.after the speech when i was walking back upstaris i looked around and noticed that everyone was crying, boys and girls. the chllenge made a diffrence in some people for a little while, but then people started to forget about the whole thing. We took the next step as a school when we all signed the rachels challenge paper. Maby that was a start of a chain reaction.

  37. After Rachel's Challenge, I think our school has improved a lot. Most people that were at school the day it came have really improved. I think that some people have started to be kinder to others and not be so mean. I don't see as many people talking about someone or other things like that. I think it made us all realize what the consequences of being mean to someone for so long can come to. It made me realize how important everyone I know is to me and how I would feel if people made fun of me all the time like they did the boys that did the shooting.

Now, when somebody is getting bullied I try to say something. I think our school has changed. Not as many people make fun of others. Im so glad Rachel's Challenge came to WFMS. 40. I believe that Rachel’s Challenge has influenced some of the kids in our school. I noticed this right after the presentation, it seemed as if everybody was quiet and calm and I noticed some people that don’t normally act nice do so. I think that the Rachel’s Challenge assembly was very much needed at our school. I noticed how much bullying and name calling there was in West Fairmont Middle school and I think we needed to turn around. I know that Rachel’s Challenge has impacted my life, it has shown how valuable good character is. Rachel’s Challenge was the best motivational speech I have ever attended and I hope our school has learned from it as much as I have

I tink we can all learn something from rachels to kinder to our freids and to respect people for who they our and not judge people for there problems or disiabilitys. The best way to show these things is to be a good person in your school and your community.

  42. I believe that Rachel’s challenge changed our school in a very positive way. Right after the assembly there was a somber tone in the school. No one that entire week was mean or insulting to anyone. There was less bullying and more acceptance. I think that the Rachel’s Challenge assembly was very much needed at our school. So when it came our school many people changed their previous ways and became much nicer people.

Rachel's challenge realy changed my outlook on life.My eyes were open to how short life is and the need for kindness and compassion.Rachel's Challenge was a big wake up call fro our school because we have alot of bullying going on.It is quite amazing that you can change the way you treat people in just a short assembly. All my school needed was Rachel to turn our behavior around. I wanted to become an even better person, so I decided to join Friends Of Rachel at WFMS. In F.O.R we learn ways to show compassion like Rachel wanted. Both F.O.R and Rachels Challenge were great for my school and I am very thankful for the program.

  51. I, unlike the optimistic people out there, didn't think that "Rachels Challenge" would last more than a week, and I was correct. With in a couple of minutes of the assembly I saw people being mean and terrible towards each other and I just sighed. Later that day people were picking on me and that was when I knew that the message from the assembley got to very few. I saddened me to see so many people being mean to each other right after a motivational assembley.

Even though the day of the assembly everyone was nice and considerate for one another but then it seemed that later everything went back to normal. Well, not for me it didn't. That day I had gotten in to a fight with someone that I love very much and when that assembly took place and I thought about everything, I also believe that Rachel would have wanted us to be free spirited every day and not at each others throats. This assembly changed me in many ways. I enjoyed it. I think that some of my fellow class mates needed to hear what Rachel's brother Scott was talking about Rachel. Rachel wanted to make an impact on millions of people. She did. I believe that was her purpose. She wrote her whole life into her journal. She inspired me to start. She wrote about what compassion she had. What I got out of all this was that the smallest things that a person can do is truly as important as every large thing a person can do. By taking the effort to turn your life around, if it's not going well, can make all the difference in the world.
